I decided to start farming here in Michigan because I like to work in the field. I have been farming since I was a kid with my father in Mexico. Right now, I have a small farm because we don’t have much in equipment and implements, but I grow blueberries, tomatillos, jalapeno and serrano peppers and sell my fruit with Farmers On The Move, and sometimes to other local buyers. I enjoy working on the farm with my family.
I heard about MIFFS through Filiberto Villa and other local producers whom I connect with in my area. He invited me seveal times to meetings MIFFS was hosting. I am learning how I can improve my farm business, and I participate in meetings and work with MIFFS representatives. I would like to work with MIFFS to promote with more producers. My experience with MIFFS workshops is good, because we can get good marketing opportunites for our products and very good benefits for other producers of our cooperative.
