WIA Farm Development Center has a new manager

MIFFS is excited to announce Dana Voorheis as our new Women in Agrilcutural of Genesee County (WIA) Farm Development Manager. As Forestry Coordinator at Genesee Conservation District and Assistant Horticulturalist at the Genesee County Parks, Dana has worked with volunteers and several local organizations to plant trees in the City of Flint, local parks and schools. She also co-created and managed diverse vegetable and landscape plantings throughout Genesee County. Dana has developed and led engaging environmental education/outdoor recreation programs for students, teachers and residents, including the award winning Truck Farm (a mobile garden). She holds a B.S. in Conservation Forestry and is a 2014 graduate of the Student Organic Farmer Certificate Program. As an attendee of Michigan Department of Natural Resources environmental education workshops she has been awarded numerous certificates including: Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, Flying WILD, Project WET, Explore Bowhunting, Basic Archery, and Basic Canoe and Kayaking. Dana is enthusiastic to be joining the Michigan Food and Farming Systems (MIFFS) organization, as the Farm Development Manager for the Women in Agriculture (WIA) farm site at Genesys, where she can continue collaborating with local and state organizations and residents.
