This year's keynote speaker was Dan Carmody, Eastern Market Corporation President. His presentation was titled "Healthy Food Hub Development: A Statewide Perspective and an Update on Eastern Market."

Dan Carmody was hired in November, 2007 as the President of Detroit's Eastern Market Corporation (EMC) where he has been charged with operating the region's premier public market, renovating and enhancing the market campus, and revitalizing the business district around the market. EMC also is a partner organization in re-building southeast Michigan's local food system and regenerating the historic core of Detroit. It is one of the oldest public markets in the country and has been feeding Detroit families since 1891.
