MIFFS Gets Virtual with Online Membership Capabilities

December 10 , 2007: The end of the year is quickly approaching, and many are receiving their MIFFS membership renewal forms in the mail.  Please remember to renew and encourage friends or family to join who could benefit from MIFFS’ work and services.  Continue to support MIFFS as we move forward into the coming year. Join or renew online now!

With the help of the Michigan State University Agriculture and Natural Resources technical assistance, MIFFS has developed a secure site where members can now join, renew and donate online using credit and debit cards – quickly and safely.  Members can also fill out their forms online and send checks by mail, as we have done in the past, if they prefer.  We hope that this online membership capability will make membership and donations faster, easier and more accessible for everyone.

With the holidays coming up, it’s also a time of family and giving.  When you are giving this year, remember MIFFS.  Any donations that you make through membership, donations or your time, MIFFS gives back to you through its programs and opportunities.  Also, any donations that you make to the MIFFS Annual Fund are tax-deductible and help MIFFS support and continue its programs to make Michigan farms sustainable, viable and successful.

MIFFS Memberships can also be a great gift to family and friends who are passionate about agriculture and sustainability.  In addition to receiving the MIFFS Memo four times a year and the MIFFS Member Directory, they will also receive first notification of great opportunities that MIFFS can offer, like scholarship availability to workshops and conferences and farmer and vendor spots at events like the “Buy Fresh, Buy Local – Select Michigan Day” farmers market.  MIFFS staff and council are continually working on benefits for members and to improve services and opportunities for the people who make our work possible.

Spread the word about MIFFS Membership, that MIFFS binds farmers and communities together by advancing and sustaining food and farming in which agricultural productivity, environmental stewardship and profitability reinforce each other for the benefit of Michigan’s rural and urban communities.  Visit www.miffs.org to learn more about MIFFS, and click on the “Join us in sustaining farming” link on the right of each page to join or renew!
