This year’s theme, “New Opportunities, Sustaining Local Agriculture for the Future”, will discuss issues facing limited resource farmers and the family farm. Learn about the new Farm Bill opportunities, organic growing, soils and cover crops, woodlot management, beekeeping, marketing ideas, alternative energy and savings, Farm to School, insurance products, loans and more during the educational sessions.
Wayne Keith, the Alabama farmer, innovator and energy guru whose wood-burning pickup truck sheds new light on the future of biofuels, will be back this year as our keynote speaker to share his knowledge and experience on saving energy and producing it yourself on your farm.
Partners and sponsors to date include the USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA), the Farm Research Cooperative, Michigan Food & Farming Systems (MIFFS), USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), USDA Rural Development (RD), Potawatomi Resource Conservation & Development Council (RC&D), Michigan State University Extension, and the Calhoun and Kalamazoo Conservation Districts.
